North Geelong Warriors FC regrettably announces that its Round 6 FFA Cup fixture against South Melbourne FC will, despite the best efforts of the club to have the high-profile encounter staged in Geelong, be held at JL Murphy Reserve in Port Melbourne.
The North Geelong board explored a number of different potential temporary arrangements and consulted with various key stakeholders in a desperate attempt to reach the minimum lighting requirements for a night fixture set by the Football Federation of Victoria, but were ultimately impeded by the tight deadlines and stringent, uncompromisable lighting regulations.
Despite this setback, the entire club remains excited and eagerly anticipate the biggest match of the season. With the backing of the Warrior faithful, and a touch of the #MagicOfTheCup, it is a night that could potentially live long in the memories of all of our supporters.
