Ryan Oppermann, more known as “Oppie,” has become a legendary figure at North Geelong Soccer Club.
His journey as a Warrior began on November 2nd, 2017, and from that day forward, he was destined for greatness.
In 2019, Oppie was given the honor of wearing the captain’s armband for the first time. From that moment on, he has taken on the immense responsibility of not only playing at the highest level but also inspiring those around him to do the same. His leadership on and off the field, along with his ability to rally the supporters, has been nothing short of extraordinary.
And now, 2,480 days later, on August 17th, 2024, Oppie will lead the boys out one last time against Melbourne City.
Over these seven years, Oppie has amassed a remarkable collection of accolades:
- 4x Addy Cups
- 2x Best and Fairest
- 2x Best and Fairest Runners-Up
- 1x Supporters’ Player of the Year
- 1x Promotion to NPL1 as Captain
Words cannot fully capture the depth of gratitude that the Warriors, players, community, and volunteers have for Oppie. His relentless passion, unwavering effort, and boundless positivity has left a HUGE mark on everyone he has encountered.
