NORTH Geelong Warriors U18 Boys had a friendly hit out against Geelong Rangers U18 Metro, who were coached by Brian Duncan, on Thursday night at Myers Reserve .
The Young Warriors ended up winning 4-1 in a valuable hitout for our lads with the goals scorered by Nicholas Barić, Jackson Lane and Max Noggler with a brace.
It was quite a fluid game with both teams using the quick break and having plenty of scoring opportunities. Rangers were very good in moving the ball in midfield and utilising their wide attackers.
We eventually broke the deadlock around the 35th min through Barić with a nice curler from near the edge of the 18 yard box.
Jackson Lane was brought down in the box a few moments later and earned himself a penalty which he converted.
In the final third of the game, Max Noggler beat the last man and scored following a 1 v 1 against the Rangers’ keeper.
Rangers pulled one back with a great goal via glancing header beating keeper Kristian Noggler.
Not long before full time, however, Max Noggler again scored through a brilliant hit outside the 18 hitting top bin.
Rangers were an excellent team and we learnt a lot from the hit out. Best wishes to them this season and we look forward to the return leg mid season.
